Ingredients

For the Cake:
  • 2 ยฝ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 ยฝ tsp baking powder
  • ยฝ tsp salt
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ยพ cups (350g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 oz (170g) white chocolate, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
For the White Chocolate Frosting:
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups (480g) powdered sugar
  • 6 oz (170g) white chocolate, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tbsp heavy cream (adjust for consistency)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cake Batter

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Slowly mix in the melted white chocolate until well combined.
  6. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour. Mix until just combinedโ€”do not overmix.

Step 2: Bake the Cake

  1. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 3: Make the White Chocolate Frosting

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter until creamy and smooth.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue beating until fluffy.
  3. Mix in the melted white chocolate and vanilla extract.
  4. Add heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.

Step 4: Assemble the Cake

  1. Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread an even layer of frosting on top.
  2. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake.
  3. Decorate with white chocolate shavings, curls, or a drizzle of melted white chocolate.
