
Ingredients
For the Cake:
- 2 ยฝ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
- 2 ยฝ tsp baking powder
- ยฝ tsp salt
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ยพ cups (350g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 6 oz (170g) white chocolate, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
For the White Chocolate Frosting:
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups (480g) powdered sugar
- 6 oz (170g) white chocolate, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2-3 tbsp heavy cream (adjust for consistency)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Cake Batter
- Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Slowly mix in the melted white chocolate until well combined.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour. Mix until just combinedโdo not overmix.
Step 2: Bake the Cake
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 3: Make the White Chocolate Frosting
- In a mixing bowl, beat the butter until creamy and smooth.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue beating until fluffy.
- Mix in the melted white chocolate and vanilla extract.
- Add heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
Step 4: Assemble the Cake
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread an even layer of frosting on top.
- Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake.
- Decorate with white chocolate shavings, curls, or a drizzle of melted white chocolate.
