Ingredients

For the Meat Sauce:
  • 1 lb ground beef (or Italian sausage)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ยฝ tsp salt
  • ยฝ tsp black pepper
  • ยผ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup water or beef broth
For the Pasta & Cheese:
  • 8 oz lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • ยฝ cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ยผ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Cook the Meat:
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  2. Add diced onion and cook for about 2 minutes, until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
2. Build the Sauce & Cook the Pasta:
  1. Stir in marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  2. Pour in water or broth and bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Add broken lasagna noodles, stirring to submerge them in the sauce. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the noodles are tender.
3. Add the Cheese & Serve:
  1. Drop spoonfuls of ricotta cheese over the lasagna.
  2. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top. Cover the skillet for 2-3 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
  3. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Pair with garlic bread or a side salad for a complete meal.
  • Add red pepper flakes for extra heat or extra cheese for more indulgence!
