Homemade Peach Ice Cream

Homemade Peach Ice Cream

Yields: Approximately 1 quart Prep time: 20 minutes Freeze time: 2-4 hours

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds ripe peaches, peeled, pitted, and chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment:

  • Ice cream maker
  • Large bowl
  • Blender or food processor
  • Spatula or spoon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the peaches: In a large bowl, combine the chopped peaches, sugar, and lemon juice. Stir gently and let stand for 30 minutes, allowing the peaches to release their juices.
  2. Blend the peach mixture: Transfer the peach mixture to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. If you prefer a chunkier ice cream, reserve some chopped peaches before blending and add them back in later.
  3. Combine the ingredients: In the same large bowl, combine the blended peach mixture, milk, cream, and vanilla extract. Stir well to combine.
  4. Churn the ice cream: Pour the ice cream mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This usually takes about 20-25 minutes.
  5. Freeze the ice cream: Once churned, the ice cream will have a soft-serve consistency. Transfer it to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Scoop the homemade peach ice cream into bowls or cones and enjoy!

Tips and Variations

  1. For a richer flavor, you can use half-and-half instead of whole milk.
  2. If you want to add some texture, fold in chopped peaches or other fruit after churning.
  3. Feel free to experiment with different flavor combinations by adding spices like cinnamon or cardamom.
  4. Garnish with fresh peach slices, whipped cream, or a drizzle of caramel sauce for an extra touch.
  5. Store leftover ice cream in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks
  6. Enjoy your delicious homemade peach ice cream!
