Ingredients (Serves 4)
For the Meat Mixture:
- 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (if needed)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1/2 cup mushrooms, chopped (optional)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
- 1/2 cup beef broth
For the Cheese Sauce:
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp flour
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese (or use Cheez Whiz for a classic touch)
For Serving:
- 4 hamburger buns or hoagie rolls
- Butter for toasting buns (optional)
Instructions

- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, and garlic. Sautรฉ until soft.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, and beef broth. Simmer for 2โ3 minutes.

- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in milk and cook until slightly thickened.
- Stir in shredded cheese until smooth.
